Cumberland
Donna E. (Gomes) Carey 57, of Second Ave. Cumberland, passed away peacefully Friday after a long struggle with cancer surrounded by her loving family in the Philip Hulitar Center, Providence. She was the wife of Thomas Carey. Mrs. Carey was born in Newport, a daughter of the late John C. and Elizabeth (DeCosta) Gomes.
Mrs. Carey was a paralegal for Calenda & Iacoi in Providence for over twenty years, before retiring due to illness in October of 2010.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a son Travis Henshaw of Cumberland, four stepchildren; Thomas, Wayne, Gail, and Scott Carey, seven grandchildren, one brother; John Gomes of Johnston, and three sisters; Diane Varella and Louann Parent, both of Pawtucket, and Sandra Drowne of Coventry.
Her funeral will be held Thursday at 9:00 from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St. Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 in All Saints Church, Rathbun St, Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham MA. Visiting hours will be Wednesday 5-7 PM.
