Obituary

Mr. Paul J. Rossi, age 85 of Medford MA, died Saturday at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Mildred (Souza) Rossi. Mr. Rossi was born in Somerville, he was the son of the late Ricco and the late Marion (Scully) Rossi.A proud U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII, he joined at the age of just 18. Throughout his naval duty, he had been assigned to several ships and an aircraft carrier. He worked as a Motorman, employed by MBTA, He drove the train on the Blue Line for many years. He worked for the MBTA from 1947 until 1988. Somewhat of a historian about the transit system, he loved to tell stories about it. He was an avid reader and a bit of an archeologist, he loved to cook and was passionate in his love for animals. He lost a beloved cat “Guy” however grew to love his new cats “Tux” and his twin “Edo”. All in all Mr. Rossi was a homebody, he loved spending time with his wife. Mr. Rossi is a member of the Logan Post VFW #6800 and the Carmen’s Union #589. In addition to his wife he is survived by one daughter: Kathleen Rossi and a granddaughter Jennifer, both of Revere. Brother of Arthur Rossi and his wife Lynn of Plymouth and the late Richard and William Rossi. A Funeral Mass in Paul’s name will be celebrated in St. Francis Of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, Wednesday at 11:30 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. At his request visiting hours have been omitted. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. In lieu of flowers, Contributions in Paul’s name may be sent to the Alzheimer's & Dementia Association, Massachusetts Chapter, Attention: Development Department, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
