Manuel de Sousa, age 84, of Somerset, passed away Feb. 27, 2011. He was the husband of Maria Isabel (Pimental Perreira) Sousa. Born in Capelas, Sao Miguel, Azores, the son of the late Manuel de Sousa Almeida and the late Maria de Carmo (Amaral) Almeida. Prior to retiring, Manuel was a Self-Employed Mason, and a communicant of St. Michael Church.
Manuel was the father of Alzira P. Sousa of Somerset, Luis P., Gabriel P., and Peter P. Sousa all of Fall River and the late Edward P. Sousa. He was the brother of Eduardo Sousa Almeida, the late Agostinho Amaral Sousa, Humberto Amaral Sousa, Natalia Amaral Sousa, and Aldina Amaral Sousa. The grandfather of 10, great grandfather of 8, and the uncle to several nieces & nephews.
His funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME 1521 N. Main St. Fall River THURSDAY at 9:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael Church at 10:30 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery, Somerset. Calling hours WEDNESDAY 5-9 P.M.
