Hazel L. Abernathy Morris, 86, Clarksville, died Monday, February 28, 2011, at her residence. A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at Salem United Methodist Church with Rev. Harriet Bryan Harris officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and from 11 a.m. until the hour of the service Wednesday at the church. Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Hazel was born October 15, 1924 in Clarksville, TN daughter of the late Charles F. Abernathy and Maude Jones Abernathy. She was also preceded in death by her husband B.B. Morris, son, Greg Morris, brother, Howard Abernathy and step-daughter, Frances McManus. She retired from the Clarksville Department of Electricity where she was a bookkeeper. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women's Society and the Adult Fellowship Class. She was also a 50 year member of Eastern Star #202. Survivors include two sons: Brad Morris (Deborah) and Phillip Morris (Nancy); daughter-in-law, Gail Morris Gannaway (Robert); step-daughter, Dorothy Abel; brother, Freddie Abernathy (Joyce); two sisters, Charlene Thomas and Judy Ussery (Bobby Gene); seven grandchildren: Cory Morris (Laura), Joel Morris (Jessica), Alex Morris, Jessica Clark (Jonathan), Charlsey Covington (Cody), Rachel Morris, and Erin Gannaway; and four great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Cory Morris, Joel Morris, Alex Morris, Jonathan Clark, Cody Covington, and Robert Gannaway. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Adult Fellowship Sunday School Class at Salem United Methodist Church.
