TAUNTON – Edward G. Roza, husband of Janet Z. (Silva) Roza, died at Morton Hospital and Medical Center on Feb. 26, 2011.
He was 72.
Born in Taunton, he was the son of the late George and Evelyn (Butler) Roza.
He was a 1956 Taunton High School graduate, and US Army Reserves veteran.
In 1981, he received an Associates degree in Fire Sciences from Massasoit College.
Mr. Roza retired with the rank of lieutenant after 30 years with the Taunton Fire Department, working out of the Bay St. Station.
He was a communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Church and a member of the Portuguese American Civic Club.
An avid fisherman and hunter, Mr. Roza was a member of Trout Unlimited, and was a skilled scrimshaw artist and carpenter.
Besides his wife Janet of 50 years, he leaves two daughters, Regina L. Roza, and Melissa A. Texeira and her husband David, all of Taunton; a sister, Gail A. Kulpa and her husband Richard of Taunton; three grandsons, Bryan R. Horton, and Eric D. and Scott D. Teixeira, all of Taunton; and three nieces.
He was also the brother of the late Timothy Roza.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway on Wednesday March 2nd at 11 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Jude the Apostle Church at 12 noon.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
