Redington Beach, FL - Shirley A. (Beaumont) Hayes, R.N., age 80, died peacefully with her family at her side, following a brief battle with cancer on Saturday, February 26. She was the devoted wife of Richard B. Hayes, with whom she had celebrated a 53rd wedding anniversary this past August 31st. Loving mother of five children, Mary Conway and her husband Paul of Needham, MA, Timothy Hayes of Delray Beach, FL, Anne Whitaker and her husband Jeffrey of Boca Raton, FL, Jane Milanes and her husband Jose of Danvers, MA, and Elaine Oliver and her husband Joseph also of Delray Beach; five grandchildren, Daniel and Brendan Conway of Needham, Jeffrey Whitaker of FL, and Joseph and Molly Milanes of Danvers; Much loved sister of, Richard Beaumont of Lake Worth, FL, and the late Robert Beaumont of North Reading, MA. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.
Shirley was born in Winchester, MA, on November 20, 1930, the daughter of Eli and Katherine (Richards) Beaumont. She lived in North Reading, and following her marriage to Richard in 1957, moved to Tewksbury to raise their family. In 1980, they moved to Boca Raton and later to Redington Beach, Florida.
Her education began at the L.D. Batchelder School in Reading, and she was a member of Reading High School's Class of 1948. She went on to Graduate St. Elizabeth's School of Nursing in 1951, and became a nurse at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Brighton. She later worked at St. Mary's Hospital in West Palm Beach, and retired from nursing from the Office of Dr. Ronald Thompson in West Palm Beach.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday, March 5, in St. William's Church, Tewksbury. Burial followed at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Lowell.
