Ruth Higgins Story, age 72, of Douglas, GA passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Coffee Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. Mrs. Story was born on July 14, 1938 to the late John Bell Higgins, Sr. and the late Ruth Mallisia Black. She was preceded in death by her husband, T. H. Story and a son, John W. Merritt. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 28, 2011 at Eastside Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. with interment following in the Hew Hope Church Cemetery. Survivors include: son: James (Janice) R. Merritt, Douglas, GA; daughters: Lena Ann Bowen, Douglas, GA, Glenda Young, Douglas, GA, 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 27, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Sims Funeral Home. Sims Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
