WILMINGTON: William J. "Jim" Green, age 80, a resident of Wilmington for 30 years and member of the Tewksbury United Methodist Church, passed away on Friday, February 25, 2011 at the Life Care Center of Stoneham.
He was the beloved husband of Evelyn V. (Noftle) (McGlauflin) Green, with whom he celebrated their 21st wedding anniversary on September 29, 2010 and the late Carol T. (Thompson) Green, who passed away on April 13, 1988.
Born in Medford on July 30, 1930, he was the son of the late Harold and Elizabeth (Chalmers) Green.
Jim was raised in Newton, attended Newton schools and graduated from Newton High School.
Following graduation, he attended the University of Oklahoma.
He resided in Newton and Sandwich until moving to Wilmington in 1981.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a computer engineer by the Marshalls Clothing Store Company in Woburn, where he worked for 17 years. He previously worked for Mammoth Mart Company in Brockton.
Jim was a member of the Wamesit Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M. of Tewksbury and the Temple Allepo Shrine of Wilmington.
He enjoyed walking on the beach, traveling to Florida, playing a game of Bocci and woodworking.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by, three children, Kenneth J. Green of Mt. View, CA, Jeffrey L. Green and his wife Mary of Hillsboro, NH and Donald C. Green and his wife Lisa of Derry, NH; three step-children, Lori Bennett and her husband William of Methuen, Russell McGlauflin and his wife Tammy of Lowell and Brian McGlauflin of Goffstown, NH; six grandchildren, Kimberly Ellis and her husband Glen, Jessica , Lorraine, Rebecca, Danielle and Amanda Green; two great grandchildren, Austin and Madison Ellis; five step-grandchildren, William Bennett, IV, Jonathan and Kerri Bennett, and Jennifer and Joshua McGlauflin; also many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Green was the brother of the late Barbara Page and Richard Green.
Calling hours Tuesday, March 1, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 2, at 11 a.m., at the Tewksbury United Methodist Church, 2335 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. There will no procession from the funeral home, kindly meet the family at church. Following cremation, interment will be at Tewksbury Cemetery. At the request of the family, kindly Omit Flowers.
