Worcester - Gloria E. (Wambach) Hiltunen, 89, passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at home surrounded by her loving family. Her husband, Olavi Hiltunen, passed away in 1952. She leaves a son Robert W. Hiltunen and his fiancé Sandra Tibbetts; a granddaughter Sera Kelley; a grandson Benjamin Hiltunen; two great-grandchildren, Adrian Kelley and Hannah Zacek; a brother and sister-in-law David L. and Pauline Wambach all of Worcester, and many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by a sister Marjorie Flaherty and five brothers - Clyde G., Frank M., Locke H., Larry E., and Roger E. Wambach.
Gloria was born in Nova Scotia, Canada, daughter of Clyde and Dorothy (Baker) Wambach. She graduated from Commerce High School and worked as a bookkeeper at the Worcester Telegram and Gazette for over 40 years. She was a member of St. Michael's on the Heights Church for many years.
Calling hours Monday, February 28, from 6-8 PM in Nordgren Memorial Chapel 300 Lincoln Street. Funeral from Nordgren Memorial Chapel, Tuesday, March 1, at 9 AM. Funeral in St. Michael's on the Heights Episcopal Church, 340 Burncoat Street at 10 AM. Following cremation, burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
