Steven Jay Brooks (US Army Ret), 60, Clarksville, died Friday, February 25, 2011, at San Antonio, TX. A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel. Burial will be in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West with full military honors. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service Thursday at the funeral home. Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born January 2, 1951 in Olean, New York. Mr. Brooks was a US Army retired E7 decorated Vietnam veteran who served three tours. He worked for the commissary at Ft. Campbell for ten years. He was of the Catholic faith. Survivors include his mother, Marion Reynolds Brooks, Machias, NY; wife, Carole Green Brooks, Clarksville; four sons: Karl Jakobs, Clarksville; Udo Jakobs, Clarksville; Jayson Brooks, Princeton, KY; and Edward Brooks, Clarksville; two daughters: Joanne Balanda, Germany; and Anita Brooks, Elizabetown, KY; a brother, Jay Brooks, Machias, NY; four sisters: Sue Green, Lori Blecha, Vicki Popson, and Becky Price; all of Machias, NY; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
