Carrie Hickerson Heath, 69, Cunningham, TN, died Friday, February 25, 2011, at Gateway Medical Center. A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel with Forrest Suddeath and Wayne Shelby officiating. Burial will be in Rye's Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 P.M. Monday at the funeral home and from 11 a.m. until the hour of the service Tuesday at the funeral home. Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She was born April 30, 1941 in Houston County, TN daughter of the late William Hickerson and Ruth Markin Hickerson. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Pam Hickerson. Mrs. Heath was a member of Lee's Chapel Church of Christ. In 1959 she began working in the Montgomery County Circuit Court Clerk's office. In 1972, she was appointed Circuit Court Clerk. Later that year she was elected as the first woman to serve as a county official in Montgomery County. In the 1972 election Mrs. Heath received more votes than those of her six male opponents combined. In 1974 she was re-elected and would serve five full terms, retiring from the clerk's office in 1996. In retirement she enjoyed working on the farm that she shared with her husband, attending class at church, and being with her family. Survivors include her husband, Thomas E
