Jackie Lamar Goff, Sr., 70, of Tifton died Thursday, February 24, 2011, at Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 27, 2011, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Dr. Wayne Roe will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Hunter Hudson, Ralph Williams, Matt Fenner, the Honorable Mark York, Ros Nash, Fred Fortenberry will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Joyful Sound Choir and the Lamar Branch Sunday school class of Tifton’s First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 26, 2011, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Goff was born on July 24, 1940 in Turner County and was the son of Vicie Jane Carroll Thornhill Goff of Jacksonville, Florida and the late Dan H. Goff. In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn Aultman Goff. He was retired as a truck driver and former salesman for Tri-State Sign Company. He served in the Georgia National Guard and was a member of the American Legion, the Masonic Lodge and he was a Shriner. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tifton.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Goff is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Marty and Tracy Goff of Cartersville; one daughter, Jacqueline Goff Hudson of Dalton; two brothers, Reggie Goff of Jacksonville, Florida and Wayne Thornhill of Leesburg; six grandchildren, Blake Goff, Christina Goff, Hunter Hudson, Hannah Hudson, Garrett Worley and Drake Worley; and one great-grandson, Leo Medina.
