WEBSTER – Mary J. (Romano) Sauer, 89, died Saturday, January 10, in UMass Health-care/Memorial in Worcester. Her husband, Melvin F. Sauer, died in 1989.
She leaves a daughter and her husband, Frances L. and Daniel P. Lebeau of Dudley; a sister, Juliette Cocozza in Florida; 2 granddaughters, 7 great granddaughters, and nieces and nephews.
She was born in Boston, daughter of Americo and Lucy (Vassello) Romano. She moved here in 1991. She attended Belmont High School and graduated from Dorchester High School in 1933. Later on, she studied for a year at Willock College in Boston.
Mrs .Sauer was a nursery school teacher at Magic Years Nursery in Mattapan for 6 years, retiring in 1991. She was a member of the Church of the Reconciliation here, and active in its Friendly Corner. She had been a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit in Mattapan, and was a former member of the Knights of Pythias there.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, January 15, in the Church of the Reconciliation, 5 North Main St. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours. Please omit flowers.
