Smith, Mabel A. – Of Burlington formerly of Reading, January 8, Age 100, beloved wife of the late Robert W. Smith. Devoted mother of David W. Smith and his wife Rosemary of Burlington, Roberta Stensland and her husband Capt. John Stensland, USN of CA. Loving grandmother of Robert Smith and his wife Antonia, Laura Temple and her husband Scott, Brenda Stensland and Jodi Blackwell. Loving great grandmother of Christopher Bahatouris, Alyssa, Nolan and Sarah Rose Temple. A funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Anthony Church, 851 Main St. Woburn, on Wednesday, January 14, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with burial at Swampscott Cemetery, Swampscott.
Mabel A. Smith, passed away on Thursday, January 8, at the Woburn Nursing Center following a brief illness, she was one hundred years old. She was the wife of the late Robert W. Smith.
Born in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late Alice (Wilder) and J. Arthur Smith. She graduated Wellsley High School, and continued her education at Boston University where she received a associate’s degree.
Mabel was devoted to raising her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and especially her great grandchildren. She was a resident of Burlington, but spent her earlier years in the town of Reading living at Peter Sanborn Place. She was a former member of the Pythian Sisters of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by her Son David W. Smith and his wife Rosemary of Burlington, a daughter Roberta Stensland and her husband Capt. John Stensland USN of California. She also leaves her grandchildren Robert Smith and his wife Antonia, Laura Temple and her husband Scott, Brenda Stensland and Jodi Blackwell, also her loving great grandchildren Christopher Bahatouris, Alyssa, Nolan and Sara Rose Temple.
