Elizabeth R. (Perna) DeCandia “Nana” passed away on February 21, 2011. She was 89 years old.
A lifelong resident of Malden, Betty worked for Converse Rubber Co. in Malden for 15 years. She also worked for the Medford Public Schools in the cafeteria and Armatron Co. in Malden. Betty was a member of the Sons of Italy and the Ladies Sodality at Saint Peter’s Church.
Betty was the devoted wife of the late George Decandia, her husband of 38 years. She was the beloved mother of Patricia Bessette and her husband Dave of Malden, P. George DeCandia and his wife Deedee of Saugus, Frank DeCandia and his wife Marcie of Malden, Gregory DeCandia and his wife Angela of Revere and Marie Brown and her husband Dana of Malden. Betty was the cherished grandmother of Matt and David Bessette, Greg, Jeff, Jessica and Mike DeCandia, Marcy Brown and George Salsman, Stephanie DeCandia and the late Frankie DeCandia, Brian and Kristen DeCandia, Dana Marie and Jackie Brown. She was the great-grandmother of Justin, Joshua and Brianna Brown, Jacob and Caleb Biel, George Salsman and Noelle DeCandia and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The Funeral will be held from the A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home, 865 Main Street, Malden on Friday, February 25th at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Hearts Church, 297 Main Street, Malden at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours are Thursday, February 24th from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Interment will be in Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden.
