Carter, Officer Joe Bill 69 of Louisville passed away Tuesday at his home.
He was a retired Police Officer and Detective for The Jefferson County Police Department for 18 years.
Born in Corbin, KY, he was member of St. Benedicts Catholic Church in Wax, KY, a member of the F.O.P 614,
A medic in Viet Nam where he was awarded two Purple Hearts and a Silver Star for Bravery.
Officer Carter started the 911 Services in Grayson County and he loved fishing.
Preceded in death by his father Lee Edward Carter. He is survived by his wife of 42 years
The former Carole Keabler, Sons Richard Beahl (Dawn) and Jeffrey Brian Carter (Jessica).
Daughter Pamela Stribbling (Tommy), his mother Delores Dorsey, brother Lee Edward Carter Jr. (Lois),
Sister Carole Langley (Jerry), Eight Grandchildren and two Great Grandchildren, Several Nieces and Nephews,
and too numerous friends to name. Funeral Mass will be 11 am Friday at
St. Gabriel Catholic Church 5505 Bardstown Rd. Burial will be in Kentucky Veteran Cemetery Central (Radcliff, KY).
Visitation will be Thursday from 2-8 pm at Owen Funeral Home-Jeffersontown 9318 Taylorsville Rd.
There will be a F.O.P. service Thursday at 7 pm.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Supporting Heroes or Hosparus.
