Obituary

Jim E. Dorminy, 92, of Fitzgerald, Georgia died Monday, February 21, 2011, at the Life Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 4 PM Wednesday, February 23 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Godfrey O’Rear officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Mr. Dorminy was born January 9, 1919 in Ben Hill County to the late James Walter and Ludie Virden Dorminy. He lived in Ben Hill County most all of his life. Mr. Dorminy worked for Blue Bird Bus and then Kimball Dairy for 24 years. After working for Kimball Dairy he worked for the City of Fitzgerald as superintendent of Evergreen Cemetery. After his retirement from the City of Fitzgerald, he worked as a self-employed painting contractor. Mr. Dorminy was a member of the Fitzgerald Church of God. He was an avid coon hunter.

He is survived by daughter: Linda (Thomas) Willoughby of Fitzgerald; 3 grandchildren: DeDee & Hank Braddy of Fitzgerald, Talinda (Lonnie) Adams and Christy Grubbs; 7 great grandchildren: Ben, Sarah and Maggie Braddy and Hannah, Zachary, Allison and Caleb Harper; sisters: Grace Troup and Martha Nell Morrison, of Fitzgerald as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Stapleton Dorminy, a son, James Walter Dorminy, 1 brother and 2 sisters.
