Obituary

WORCESTER - Leo L. Sheehy, Jr., 70, of Worcester, died Saturday, February 19th in UMass Memorial Medical Center surrounded by family after a brief illness. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 41 years, Agnes A. (White) Sheehy; his daughter, Jennifer R. (Sheehy) Everett and husband John of Melrose; his son, Scott M. Sheehy and wife Sabrina of Vancouver, WA; two brothers, Roger C. Sheehy of Goffstown, NH and Neil A. Sheehy and wife Kathy of Scotia, NY; sister-in-law Elizabeth Desautell and husband Richard of Worcester; his aunt and many cousins, nephews and nieces. His sister Patricia and infant brother Michael predeceased him.
Mr. Sheehy was born in Fort Plain, NY, the son of Leo L. Sheehy, Sr. and Sarah (Canfield) Sheehy. He was a graduate of Stamford Central High School in Stamford, NY and Le Moyne College in Syracuse, NY with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics. Leo was a kitchen designer and salesman for many years, most recently with Plywood Plus of Worcester. He also enjoyed positions with Qualex, a Kodak Company, and the former Tatnuck Booksellers of Worcester.
Leo was a proud U.S. Air Force veteran, fondly remembering his days stationed in Oregon where he also served as a member of Mt. Hood’s ski patrol and performed as tenor and guitarist in the singing group “Westwinds.” A recent visit to Mt. Hood brought back cherished memories for Leo, not the least ski jumping off the roof of Timberline Lodge to test his skiing prowess.
Leo was gifted with many athletic, musical and artistic talents. He was a member of Christ the King Church and its choir and was a passionate softball and baseball coach for Jesse Burkett Little League as well as assistant coach for Clark University men’s crew. He was also an avid photographer, never leaving home without his trusty Nikon camera. Mr. Sheehy was a warm, kind man with a gift for connecting deeply with everyone he met.
