Helen M. Moran, 90, died on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011 while a resident at Methuen Village at Riverwalk Park.
Helen was born on June 25, 1920 in Lawrence, Mass. And was the daughter of Emily and Julian Michalewicz, who had immigrated from Poland. She attended Holy Trinity Grammar School and Lawrence High School. Helen was employed by various Lawrence businesses including the Shoelace Factory. Her long term employment was for Western Electric Co. in North Andover where she held positions related to telecommunication device assemblies. She worked there for 26 years till retirement.
Helen was a very energetic person who loved to travel with her husband, Adam. She especially loved Polka dancing and would often, almost weekly, attend Polka events at times traveling out of state and for weekends. She was an avid candlepin bowler and won many individual and team awards in the years she bowled. Also, she participated in water therapy sessions in Salem, NH, and was an auxiliary member of the local VFW. Helen was often seen enjoying the activities at the Methuen Senior Center.
Helen was married to Adam (Skip) Moran for 47 years until Adam’s passing in 1994. She is survived by her son, Robert, his wife, Marilyn, and, granddaughters, Rebecca Moran Swope and her husband, Tim, and Sarah, and her fiancé, Dr. Michael McCulloch. She also leaves her son, Richard, and his wife, Marilyn. Additionally she leaves her long time companion, Walter Cheltowski.
