ALBEMARLE: Mr. Raymond Boyce McDonald, Sr., 82, formerly of Rockingham, died Saturday, February 19, 2011 in Stanly Regional Medical Center in Albemarle.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:oo PM on Saturday, February 26, in the Anderson Grove Baptist Church in Albemarle with Pastor Yates Brooks and Rev. Ron Honeycutt officiating. Interment will follow in the Stoney Fork Baptist Church Cemetery in Mt. Gilead.
Raymond was born in Richmond County on September 5, 1928, a son of the late Daniel William and Lara Etta McKay McDonald. He retired from Estes Trucking, was a member of Anderson Grave Baptist Church, and an avid member of the Trailblazers camping club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Thompson McDonald, a son Byron Anthony McDonald, brothers Daniel W. Jr., Bernie, W. Glenn, and Archie McDonald, and a sister Esther K. McDonald.
He is survived by a son, Boyce McDonald, II, of Albemarle; two sisters, Henrietta Bryant and Marilyn Lampley both of Rockingham; nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
