GLOUCESTER: Jeffrey Philippe “J.P.” Paul, 24, died Saturday morning, February 19, 2011 in the Beverly Hospital.
Born in Boston on October 5, 1986, he was the son of Carol Knox and Philippe R. Paul. Jeffrey attended Boston Public School, Roxbury Latin, UMASS Boston and University of Texas Austin. He had many loving friends and his gift of infectious enthusiasm and empathy for others was clear to all that knew him. He was a wonderful big brother and an adoring supporter of his beloved sister Becky.
Summers as a youth were spent in Gloucester, and Jeff made fast friends at the Y Camp Spindrift, where he grew over the years to become a dynamic and effective leader, as well as a passionate advocate for the well-being of children. The relationships he formed there remained so strong he chose to make Gloucester his home as an adult, serving his community through the YMCA.
J.P.’s work and the lessons we’ve learned together leave a lasting and profound impact on those of us who came to know and love him dearly through the years.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Rebecca A. Paul and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends.
A remembrance and celebration of life service will be held today at the Gloucester House Restaurant beginning at 11 a.m., to be followed by time for gathering and fellowship until 3 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Per the wishes of the family, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Y Camp Spindrift, c/o 71 Middle Street, Gloucester, MA 01930. Arrangements are under the direction of the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester.
