Julio J. Cruz, 92, of Dartmouth passed away peacefully at Brandon Woods Nursing Home on February 21, 2011.
He was the husband of Louise A. (Ramos) Cruz.
Born in New Bedford, MA on January 27, 1919, Julio was the son of the late Peter and Mariana (Ramos) Cruz, he lived in New Bedford and Dartmouth.
He began his career in New Bedford as a baker and retired from Amoco Oil Co. as a chief steward.
Julio was an active communicant of Our Lady of Assumption Church.
He leaves behind his beloved wife; his loving sons, Julio J. Cruz Jr. and wife Patricia of Suffolk, VA and Nicholas A. Cruz and wife Patricia, of Hyannis, MA; step-children, Rudolph Andrade of New Bedford and Lois Andrade of Boston, MA. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild along with many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Beatrice Santos, Agnes Britto, Rudolph DeCruz, Nicholas Cruz, Walter Cruz, Manuel DeCruz and John Britto.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Thursday, February 24th at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours Wednesday, February 23rd from 4-8 PM.
