Floyd U. Lovelace, age 77, of 863 Melrose Avenue, Danville, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 20, 2011.
Born June 16, 1933 in Rockingham County, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Willie Joseph Lovelace and Grace Lovelace Burchett. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and later worked in construction.
Survivors include his wife, Lillie Lovelace of the residence; one son: Floyd Lovelace, Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Reidsville, NC; one daughter: Stephanie Lovelace of Danville; five sisters: Thelma Adkins, Belwood Hyler, Aquilla Mangrum, and Priscilla Nelson, all of Danville, and Sandra Foutz of Roanoke; three grandchildren.
Funeral services officiated by Rev. John Meadows, Rev. Kevin Emmerson, & Brother Jeff Scearce will be held on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at 2 p.m. in the Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment with graveside military honors by the American Legion Dan River Post 1097 will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Monday evening at the residence on Melrose Avenue.
