Mary Elizabeth (Kane) Dane, 79, of Walpole died February 19 in Norwood Hospital. She was the wife of the late Charles Dane who died in 1992.
Born in Boston, October 10, 1931, the daughter of the late Quentin and Alice (McGaffney) Kane, Mrs. Dane was raised in West Roxbury and had lived in Walpole since 1976.
Mrs. Dane had been a dental assistant in West Roxbury, a City of Boston Crossing Guard in Roslindale and a home health aide for the Walpole Visiting Nurse Association.
Mary loved to go to flea markets and garage sales and supported the shelter for abused children in Westwood.
She is survived by her children, David Dane of Walpole, Karen Lightner of Franklin and Shawn Dane of Walpole.
She is also survived by her siblings, Jane Goodman of West Yarmouth, Kathleen Poirier of Norwood, Alice Bisson of Florida, Gail Burgess of Tennessee and Quentin Kane of Braintree.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Angela, Steve and Austin.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday, February 24 from the Ginley Funeral Home, 892 Main St. in Walpole at 9:15 followed by a funeral Mass in Blessed Sacrament Church at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m.
