June A. (Halberts) Cramer
June Annette Cramer of Londonderry passed away February 19 at Community Hospice House in Merrimack following a long illness. She was 76. June was born on May 27, 1934, in Portland, ME, the daughter of the late Frederick and Minnette Halberts. She attended Portland schools and the University of Southern Maine in Gorham where she graduated with a degree in teaching. Later, she earned a masters degree at Central Connecticut State University. June had a long teaching career extending 33 years in various schools in Connecticut, where she moved with her husband Donald Cramer in 1958. She taught kindergarten or first grade in the school districts of Simsbury, Monroe and West Hartford with the last 15 years at the Louise Duffy Elementary School before retiring in 1995. She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma, MU Chapter international sorority of teachers. The couple lived in Farmington, CT, until 2005 when they moved to Londonderry. June’s interests were many including gardening, knitting, Bridge and Canasta, tennis, boating, skiing, swimming and golf. She loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends in Connecticut and Fort Myers, FL, where she and her husband had a second home. June was an avid fan of the men’s and women’s basketball teams at the University of Connecticut and of the Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Don; a son, Dr. Jeffrey Cramer of Hockessin, DE, and his wife, Jane; a daughter, Julie Williams of Londonderry, and her husband Terrence; a sister, Johanna Moody of Poland, ME; four grandchildren, Christopher Williams of Portland, ME, Heather June Williams of Manchester, CT, Kathryn Cramer and Stephanie Cramer, both of Hockessin, DE; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Patricia.
June was an active member of the First Church of Christ, Congregational, in Farmington. In Londonderry she was a member of the Londonderry United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Amedisys Hospice Services, 1E Common Drive, Unit 33, Londonderry, NH 03053.
SERVICES: Calling hours will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 24, at the Peabody Funeral Home, 290 Mammoth Road, Londonderry. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 25, at the Londonderry United Methodist Church, 258 Mammoth Road.
