Sarah M. (McDermott) Gallagher, 80, of Norton passed away peacefully on Sunday February 20, 2011 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of Paul K. Gallagher, Sr. to whom she was wed on December 11, 1955.
Born in Boston, MA on September 24, 1930 she was a daughter of the late Edward McDermott and Gladys (Martin) West.
Sarah grew up and was educated in Boston. She was a retired self-employed home cleaner and had formerly worked as a silk presser at Shea’s Dry Cleaners in Attleboro.
A resident of Norton for the past 46 years, Mrs. Gallagher enjoyed the many wonderful times spent with her family.
In addition to her husband of over 55 years, she is survived by her children Debra DiMarco and Linda Teixeira both of Norton, Donna Eng of California, Paul K. Gallagher, Jr. of Rhode Island and the late Laura Jean Gallagher. The sister of Eugene McDermott of Cape Cod, William McDermott of Norwood, Richard West of Boston and the late Edward McDermott and Paul McDermott, Mrs. Gallagher is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandsons, 1 great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
Private funeral services will be held on Wednesday February 23rd at The Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. Visiting hours have been omitted.
