Obituary

Phyllis J. (Bucci) Scimemi, a life-long Medford resident died peacefully at home in the care of her loving family, after a brief illness. She was 81.

Born and raised in Medford, she was the daughter of the late Domenic and the late Anna (Funaro) Bucci. Phyllis was a 1947 graduate of Medford High School. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Phyllis’ personality made her easy to be friends with and everyone felt good to be with her. She was always the “life of the party”. She enjoyed dancing, cooking and entertaining family and friends. She was a woman of style and kindness and a friend to many.

The beloved wife of the late Peter A. Scimemi, she was a devoted mother to Jean Scimemi of Medford and Peter J. Scimemi and his wife Luciana of Reading. She was a loving grandmother to Peter E. Scimemi and Adriana Scimemi. She was a dear sister to Lucy March of Bridgewater and her late husband John, Anthony Bucci and his wife Julia of Medford, Rose Antonuccio of Tewksbury and her late husband Frank, and the late Mario and Vincent Bucci. Dear sister-in-law of Hope and Mary Bucci.

Phyllis' funeral procession will gather at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Thursday February 24th at 8 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Immaculate Conception Church, Malden at 9 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Family and friends are respectfully invited and may visit at the funeral home Wednesday from 4 – 8 PM.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent in Phyllis' name to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
