DANVERS - Barbara A. (Burey) Brown, 92, formerly of Peabody and Danvers, wife of the late Elliott S. Brown, died Thursday evening, February 17, 2011 at the Beverly Hospital after suffering an ill turn earlier in the day.
Born and raised in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Richard C. and Augusta (Green) Burey and was a graduate of Peabody High School with the class of 1935.
Prior to her retirement in 1988, Mrs. Brown was employed as an office supervisor at Hastings Tapley Insurance Agency in Danvers for 20 years.
A resident of Danvers for most of her life, she was a lifelong and active member of the First Baptist Church in Salem. She enjoyed cooking and sewing and was an avid gardener.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Edward R. and Joanne Calitri Brown of Ridgewood, NY, R. Sam Brown and Leanne Labrecque-Brown of Peabody, one daughter, Augusta C. Lynch of Humble, TX, 7 grandchildren, Kristina Brown of Ridgewood, NJ, Seth Brown, Aaron Brown, Carson Brown, Trinity Brown, all of Peabody, Allison Lynch, Abigail Lynch, both of Humble, TX, and one niece, Ruth Herrick of Old Town, Maine. She was predeceased by sisters Olive M. Maguire and Muriel C. Burey and her son-in-law, Lawrence Lynch.
Her funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at 11 am at the First Baptist Church, Salem. Visiting hours are Tuesday, from 4 to 7 pm at the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem. Relatives and friends respectfully invited.
