WORCESTER-Bernard F. McDermott, 84, of Worcester, died Thursday, February 17th in St. Vincent Hospital. He leaves his cousins, James F. Rogers of Lakeville, Paul E. Rogers of Worcester and Daniel J. Rogers of Onset. He was predeceased by a brother, John McDermott and a sister, Ann Mondino.
He was born in Westborough, the son of Bernard A. and Mary A. (Whalen) McDermott and graduated from St. John’s High School and Worcester Junior College. Mr. McDermott worked as a bridge inspector for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for 31 years, retiring in 1980. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. An avid golfer, Mr. McDermott was a member of Pine Ridge Country Club, Oxford and the Retired Men’s Club of Greendale.
The funeral is Wednesday, February 23rd from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 10:30 A.M. in St. Peter’s Church, 931 Main Street. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. A visiting hour is from 9:00 until 10:00 A.M. Wednesday in the funeral home.
