Gregory E. Monaghan, 59, of Franklin, died, Thursday, February 17, 2011 at the Milford Care & Rehabilitation Center after a courageous battle with cancer.. He was the beloved husband of Deborah (Guyette) Monaghan who he married in 1975.
Born in Newton on June 3, 1951, he was a son of Mary (Driscoll) Monaghan of Millis and the late James Monaghan.
Mr. Monaghan was a resident of Franklin for 25 years and formerly resided in Medway and Millis. He was a graduate of Millis High School, Class of 1969.
Mr. Monaghan was the owner of Fairmont Liquors in Woonsocket, RI for the past 15 years and had formerly been the owner of Best Cleaners in Franklin for several years.
Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by his two sons, Michael Monaghan of Franklin and Kevin Monaghan and his girlfriend Terri Campbell of Providence, RI, his daughter, Jennifer Monaghan and her husband Kenneth Uzogara of Jakarta, Indonesia and his siblings, Susan Barry and her husband William of Barnstable, Jay Monaghan and his wife Diane of Duxbury, Richard Monaghan and his wife Helene of Hingham, Patricia Sullivan of Millis, Peter Monaghan and his wife Lizbeth of Millis and John Monaghan and his wife Sharon of Medway.
He is also survived by his beloved nephew Jeff Parcells of Oxford, who was like a son to him, and many other nieces and nephews.
He was a brother of the late Karen Parcells.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Monday, February 21 from the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St., Franklin at 9:15 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Church in Franklin at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at the parish cemetery.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 3 – 7 p.m.
