Cleo James Chaney, age 86, of Danville, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, February 17, 2011 in Wesley Long Hospital, Greensboro.
Born November 9, 1924 in Danville, she was the daughter of the late Grover C. James and Willie Dix James. She lived her life in Greensboro and Richmond, and later in Danville where she was a homemaker, mother, and wife to her husband, Lloyd A. Chaney, who predeceased her in 2008. Mrs. Chaney attended Christ The King Lutheran Church. She loved her family, cooking, decorating, gardening, and most especially Christmas.
Survivors include one son: Lloyd “Lance” Chaney, Jr. of Danville; one daughter: Cheryl M. Collins and her husband Barry of Pleasant Garden, NC; two grandchildren: Benjamin Collins and his wife Kristy of Wake Forest, NC, Tamera Davis of High Point, NC; great-grandchildren: Kameron, Abby, Carter, Kayley, and Kennedy; one sister: Margie J. Kahle and her husband Joe of Danville and one sister-in-law, Vivian Chaney of Danville.
Funeral services officiated by Rev. Fred Unger and Rev. William Voelker will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 4 p.m. at the Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 3:30 until 4:00 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be private.
