Joseph L. Guarino age 80, of Brockton died Wednesday February 16, 2011 at West Acres Nursing Home after a period of failing health. He was the loving and devoted husband for 60 years of the late Barbara A. (Look) Guarino. Joe was born in Brockton a son of the late Louis and Virginia May (Johnson)Guarino and remained a lifelong resident of the city.
He served with the US Army Artillery in Korea and was discharged with the United Nations Service Medal, Two Overseas Bars and the Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars. Joe was a self employed carpenter and electrician in the Brockton area and retired from the maintenance staff at King Size Clothing in Brockton.
Joe enjoyed Country & Western dancing and Saturday nights at the American Legion in Weymouth.
Joe was the father of Deborah Runey and her husband Lawrence of Pembroke; Joseph Guarino, Jr. of Brockton; Michael Guarino and his wife Norma of Middleboro; David Guarino and his wife Joan of Bridgewater and Jay Guarino and his wife Karen of New Hampshire. He leaves eight grandchildren, many great grand children and many nieces and nephews. Joe was the brother of Mary Baker of Walpole, Antoinette Johnson of Wareham, Beverly Levangie of Holbrook, Stephen Guarino of Bridgewater, Phillip Guarino of Brockton , Maria Sidahmed of Dorchester and the late Louis Guarino, Jr., Angelo Guarino and Jeannette LaLibertie.
Funeral Service in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St.(Rte 123) Brockton Saturday at 10:30 am. Burial with military honors in Pine Hill Cemetery. Visiting hours Friday 3-6 pm.
