Dorice T. (McCloud) Howland, a lifelong resident of Medford and beloved wife of the late Charles Robert Howland, died at the Brighten Nursing Center in Medford on Saturday, February 12, 2011. She was 86 years old.
Born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, on January 8, 1925, she was the beloved daughter of the late George A. and Janet McCloud. Mrs. Howland was in charge of Medical Records at Lawrence Memorial Hospital for many years. She was a long time member of the First Community Church in Medford and enjoyed attending Bible Study and sang in the church choir. She also enjoyed embroidery and was a member of the Eastern Star.
She will be missed by her loving daughter; Roberta H. “Bobbi” and her husband George Martin of West Lebanon, New Hampshire, brother Alexander McCloud of Medford, six grandchildren; Robert, Charles, David, Peter, Steven and Jonathan, two great-grandchildren; Michael and Kathryn and several nieces and nephews. She was also the loving mother of the late Lawrence Howland and Priscilla Howland.
Her funeral service was celebrated in the First Community United Methodist Church, 55 Otis Street, Medford, Saturday, February 19, 2011, at 1 PM. Many relatives and friends were in attendance. Visiting Hours were held in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Friday, February 18, 2011, from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 PM. Interment was private.
