Maria “Mary” Roberto, 97 of Arlington, died Monday in the Lawrence Memorial Hospital Medford. She is the beloved wife of the late Anthony Roberto. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Sabino and Raffaela (Veccia) Petruzziello. She was raised in Medford and attended local schools. In earlier years she was employed as a fancy stitcher in the garment industry. She never lost that unique ability to sew and also crochet fine garments and blankets. She was always ready for a fun time. She was always the life of the party and the first to get up to dance when the music started. It would not be unusual to see her get right up on the table top and dance. On a quieter note she also enjoyed gardening and travel, particularly to York Beach Maine. She was also a regular and active member of the Senior Center in both Arlington and Wakefield. She is survived by a sister: Adeline Cobucci of Somerville. Sister of the late Frank, Anthony, Carmine and Joseph Petruzziello, Madeline Aurelia, Florence Jannino and Helen Nugent. Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home 306 Main Street Medford on Friday at 9:00 am. A funeral Mass will be celebrated for Mary in St. Agnes Church, 30 Medford St., Arlington at 10:00am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 PM. Interment will follow in Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
