Mrs. Janice Davis McNeill, age 84, passed away Sunday, February 13, 2011 at her home in Douglas. She was born on May 24, 1926 in Irwin County, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, the late Carroll L. McNeill. She was the daughter of the late Abel and Louise Davis of Ocilla. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Douglas, a member of United Methodist Women, and a member of the Shell Vickers Sunday School Class and very active in the Douglas community for many years. She was a housewife then held numerous roles in the Douglas community including the Coffee County Board of Education and later owned and operated “C. J.’s” , a ladies dress and gift shop until her retirement.
She is survived by her children, daughter Brenda Bailey (Henry), daughter Lou Harper (Jerry), and son, Brian McNeill (Cindy). She has 8 grandchildren, Eddie Murray (Jennifer),Caty Murray , Jessica Barber, (Jim), Ben Lott (Kim), Brett McNeill, Austin McNeill, Justin McNeill (Gina), and Jennifer Teston (Brad) and several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Sims Funeral Home, Tuesday, February 15, 2011 from 6 to 9 PM. Services will be at The First United Methodist Church in Douglas on Wednesday, February, 16, 2011 at 11 AM. Interment will follow at the Douglas City Cemetery in the Dixie Mausoleum.
