Stephen W. Dodge, 50, of Nantucket Drive, Mystic, died Tuesday at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital from injuries received in an automobile accident in Mystic.
Steve, also nicknamed “Digger” and “Sveni”, was the husband of Barbara (Ragland) Dodge. They were married on September 23, 1976 at First Congregational Church in Groton.
He was born on August 19, 1953 in Watertown, NY. Stephen worked for 20 years as a Hangerman and Pipefitter at Electric Boat and also as a builder at Jem Builders in Groton. He was a member of Pipefitters Local 620 and the EB Athletic Club.
He was an avid NASCAR race fan and enjoyed all sorts of outdoor activites including kayaking, canoeing, camping, hiking, golfing and bicycling. He was also very interested in cooking, classic cars and motorcycles.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his beloved children, Beth Ann Dodge and Chad Stephen Dodge, both of Mystic, his sisters Sheri, Kathy and Judy Dodge all of NY, brothers Ronald Dodge of PA, Neil and Craig Dodge both of NY, and mother-in-law Norma G. Ragland and his mother Betty Lutz of NY.
He was predeceased by his father Neil Dodge, two brothers, Eugene and Allen Dodge and a sister Donna Dodge.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Friday from 6 to 8pm at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, historic downtown Mystic. His service will be Saturday at 9:30am at Union Baptist Church in Mystic
