Obituary

Robert Louis Caggiano, 70, of Chatham died Saturday, February 12th, 2011. Bob was born on November 25th, 1940 in Boston, MA and raised in Hyde Park, the son of Saverio and Angelina ( Iannone) Caggiano.
After graduating from Hyde Park High School in 1958, he attended Northeastern University and received a BS in Accounting in 1963. Bob served as an Officer in the US Army Signal Corps at Fort Gordon, GA. He went on to earn the silver medal for the Massachusetts CPA Exam by receiving the second highest overall score on his first attempt in 1965.
Bob gave back to his community in many ways. He served as the President of the Westwood Lions club, building a community park for the town. He also sat as the President of the U.S. Air Force Academy Parents Club of Eastern Massachusetts. As President, he founded the Dennis P. Rando Humanitarian Fund which provides financial support for U.S. Air Force Academy Cadets to attend funerals for fallen comrades or to visit dying relatives.
Bob is survived by his children, Susanne Keohane of Towsend, MA, Anne Marie Caggiano of Milford, MA, Major Andrew Caggiano of Platte City, MO, and Captain Gregory Caggiano and his wife, Joanne, of Franklin, MA as well as his six grandchildren, Nicole and Joshua Patterson, Justin, Brendan, and Michelle Keohane, Sebastian Caggiano, and his sister, Cynthia Caggiano of New York City. He was pre-deceased by his brother, Ronald.
A wake will be held from 5 to 9 PM on Wednesday, February 16th at Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 AM on Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Franklin. Following the Mass Bob will be interred at Bourne National Veteran’s Cemetery at 12:45 p.m.
