Dodero of Bourne formerly of Brockton January 6, 2004 Joseph E. Dodero, ret. BPD, 78 years. Beloved husband of Elinor A. (Burcham) Dodero. Loving father of Denise E. Dodero of Vienna, VA; Steven J. Dodero of Bourne and Gale D. Rossides and her husband Lynn Cheatwood of Fairfax, VA. Brother of Claire Hume of St. Petersburg, FL; Frank Dodero of Brockton and the late Leo and Jake Dodero. Brother-in-law of Carol Scibetta of Bourne.

Funeral Mass in St. John Church 841 Shore Rd., Pocasset Friday at 10 am. Burial in Mass National Cemetery, Bourne. Visiting hours in the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Thursday 4-8 pm. In lieu of flowers donations in Joseph’s memory may be made to American Diabetes Association Research Foundation 1701 N. Beauregard St., Alexandria, VA 22311.

Obituary

Joseph E. Dodero 78 years died Tuesday morning at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born in Brockton son of the late James and Mabel (Parenteau) Dodero. He was a resident of Brockton for most of his life before moving to Bourne 3 ½ years ago.He was a graduate of Brockton High School and received his degree from Northeastern University.

During WW II he served in the United Sates Marine Corps as a corporal stationed in the Pacific theater.

For 27 years Mr. Dodero was a member of the City of Brockton Police Department. He was one of the last officers to walk a beat in the city.

In addition to his wife of 46 years he is survived by his 2 daughters and a son (as listed above).One brother, one sister and several nieces and nephews He was predeceased by 2 brothers
