Obituary

BOX, RICKY, MSG (R) 62, of Louisville, KY, passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2011.

Born in Tulare, CA, in 1948 to Jess and Bertie Box, he was one of seven children.

He retired from the U.S. Army after 22 years, earning the rank of Master Sargeant, and earning awards and medals too numerous to mention. He then became a manager with AutoZone until his retirement in 1999. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1181, and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church.

Rick loved the simple things of life... a hot cup of coffee (black)...his morning paper and the joy each day would bring. He loved to travel, to work outdoors, to go boating and to work in the garage. He was a lover of country music, but most of all, he was a lover of country, friends, and family. Above all else, he was a man of honor...a very good man and husband.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his two brothers, Bobby and James; and his sister, Judy.

Survivors include his loving wife and soulmate of almost 38 years, Cynthia; a son, David and daughter, Tammy; brothers Jerry and Donald (Iris); a sister, Kim (Tom); and grandchildren, William Austin Finn, Jordan Box and Landon Sizemore.
