Thomas P. Gates age 56 of Salem, NH, died Thursday at his home in Salem.
He was born in Winthrop, MA, grew up and was educated in Salem, NH, where he graduated from Salem High School in 1972. He was a life long resident of Salem.
Tommy was a writer for the Salem Observer and the Community Patriot. He was an avid sports fan, especially high school sports. He was involved with the Salem Men’s Softball League. Tommy’s life revolved around sports. He loved playing and writing about all the kids in Salem. He also enjoyed umpiring little league baseball.
He was predeceased by his father John P. Gates.
He is survived by his mother Jeannie (McDonald) Gates of Nashua, NH

Calling hours will be Monday, Feb. 14 from 4-7 PM, followed by a funeral service at 7 PM at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH. Cremation will follow.
