Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Constance “Dolly” (Blancato) Chianciola, 80, passed away early Thursday morning, February 10, 2011. She was the wife of Walter D. Chianciola.
Born in Bronx, New York on December 8, 1930, Dolly was the daughter of the late Giovanni and Cesaria (Pane) Blancato formerly of Italy.
Dolly and Walter lived in Gloucester for fifty-nine years, after marrying in 1952. She was embraced by Walter’s family and their small fishing community, which she later called home.
Though an industrious, hardworking woman in her home; Dolly also enjoyed outside activities and volunteer service. In addition to her family, the ocean was one of her greatest loves, and it was by the seashore that many happy memories were formed. Dedicated to daily exercise and fresh air, Dolly walked the seaside of Stacey Boulevard, deterred only by severe weather conditions and her failing health.
As the ultimate caregiver and homemaker, she found it difficult to release this role, but she gradually accepted her illness with courage and humor. “Ma” it was tough to watch you slowly slip away. “To my Dolly, to our Ma, to our Nanny, to our Grammy, we salute you with honors.” You will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved you.
In addition to her husband, Walter, she leaves behind her daughters, Susan, April and Jennifer; grandchildren, Greer, Steven, Trew and Ryan; great-grandchildren, Samario, Amore and Laurie Kay-Anne; sister, Anne; sister-in-law, Rose; nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was also predeceased by her sister, Josephine, and brother, Mario.
Her funeral service will be held on Friday morning in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9 to 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Honoring Dolly’s wishes, please omit flowers. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery.
