SALEM - Clare T. (Monaghan) Hennessey, 89, of Salem, wife of the late Joseph F. Hennessey died Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at the Devereux House in Marblehead following a long illness.
Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Peter F. and Catherine A. (Connolly) Monaghan. Raised in Dorchester, she was a graduate of Mount St. Joseph Academy in Brighton and the Stratford Business School in Boston.
A resident of Salem for most of her life, Mrs. Hennessey enjoyed traveling here and abroad, going to Foxwoods Resort and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, James F. and Geri Hennessey of Salem, 3 daughters and a son-in-law, Kathy and Rodney Comeau of Marblehead, Eileen Konopnicki and Eleanor King, both of Salem, nine grandchildren, Susan Hennessey, Michael Hennessey, Kevin and his wife Kara Hennessey, Scott Comeau, Keith and his wife Amy Comeau, Neil Comeau, Clare Comeau, Katelyn King, Joseph King, 3 great-grandchildren, Kayla Hennessey, Kiley Hennessey, Cal Comeau and one nephew, Paul Duggan. She was predeceased by 2 sisters, Geraldine Duggan and Sr. Eleanor Monaghan, CSJ.
A Memorial Mass will be held Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at 10 am in the Chapel at St. James Church, Federal Street, Salem. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. There are no visiting hours. Arrangements are by the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem.
