Obituary

FRANKLIN—Ronald J. Mahan 63, a lifelong Franklin resident, died Tuesday February 8, 2011 at Milford Regional Medical Center, following a long illness. He was the former husband of Constance (Trotta) Mahan.
Born in Milford, April 9, 1947 a son of the late Francis J. “Red” Mahan and Olga (Velluti) Mahan, he was raised and educated in Franklin and graduated Franklin High School class of 1965. He also graduated from Dean Jr. College in 1967 and obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education from Midwestern College in Iowa.
Until his illness forced him to retire some years ago, he worked as a letter carrier for the Us Postal Service in Bellingham.
He was a proud Life Member of the Franklin Lodge of elks #2136.
He is survived by a son, Jason Mahan of Springfield, Ma, a sister Paula F. Lomberto of Franklin, a uncle Bernard “Nino” Velluti and his wife Rose (Legge) Velluti of Franklin, a aunt, Emma (Velluti) Rabaioli of Franklin, and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service Monday February 14th, at 11AM in the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. Franklin, www.oterifuneralhome.com.
Following cremation, interment will take place in the Mahan family lot in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Calling hours are Sunday from 4-6PM. The Franklin Lodge of Elks will conduct a Lodge of Sorrows Service at the funeral home on Sunday at 6:00PM.
