WORCESTER-Joan C. (Creegan) Bernart, 78, of Worcester, died Tuesday, February 8th in UMass Memorial Hospital. Her husband of 40 years, McKinley Morings, died in 2010. She leaves two daughters, Carleen Patrone and her husband Frank, and Joan Herbert; five grandchildren, Bryan Patrone, Jeff Patrone and his wife Kati, Joseph Chronchio, Kimberly Chronchio and Jeff Altieri, and Tommy Herbert; two brother in-laws Edo Verdini and Bill Marr; her sister in-law Carolyn Mack; several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by three brothers John and James Creegan and William Tunney, and seven sisters Mary Kenny, Rose Marr, Teresa and Katherine Creegan, Winifred Sobolewski, Clare Verdini, and Noreen Creegan.
Ms. Bernart was born in Boston, the daughter of John J. and Margaret (Sweeney) Creegan. She was a unit aide at UMass-Memorial Healthcare Center, had worked in the respiratory department at City Hospital and had also worked at Worcester State Hospital and St. Vincent Hospital. Ms. Bernart attended St. John’s Church. She was a member of the Ancient Order of the Hibernians, Division 36. Ms. Bernart enjoyed spending time with her family and doing crafts.
The funeral is Saturday, February 12th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. John’s Church, 40 Temple Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. A calling hour will be held Saturday from 8:30 until 9:30 AM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dominican Sisters of Caldwell, 1 Ryerson Avenue, Caldwell, NJ 07006.
