Obituary

JOHN P. RICHARDSON a resident of Hingham for over 60 years and a well known wetland specialist, environmentalist and historian, died on Tuesday, Feb. 8th, 2011. He was 76. He was born in Boston and was educated at Thompson Academy in Boston, was a 1954 graduate of Hingham High School and attained his Horticultural Degree at UMass Stockbridge. Mr. Richardson was actively involved in a number of state and Hingham organizations including life membership in the Hingham Historical Society, The Wompatuck State Park Advisory Council, The Mass. Association of Conservation Commissions, The Mass. Audubon Society, and The National Trust for Historic Preservation to name just a few. He also served in the U.S. Army during the 1950's.

He is survived by his sister Joyce (Richardson) Ciccolo and her husband Robert W., Sr. of Plymouth; and was the uncle of Sarah C. Asnes and her husband Geoffrey of Kingston, Daniel E. Ciccolo and his wife Ann of Boston and Robert W. Ciccolo, Jr. and his wife Dale of Needham. Great Uncle of Matthew and Nicolas Asnes and Alexander Ciccolo.

A Memorial Service will be conducted on Tuesday, Feb. 15th at 11 AM at the First Baptist Church, 85 Main St., Hingham. Friends may visit at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. The interment is to be private.
