Warren, John Collins, of Natick Massachusetts, died at home on February 6, at age 64, of natural causes. He was born in Boston to Cora Lyman Warren and Richard Warren. A descendant of General Joseph Warren, Doctors John Warren and John Collins Warren and other doctors of subsequent generations, he grew up in Dedham. He graduated from the Noble and Greenough School and Harvard College, where he was a member of the Porcellian Club. He studied German language and literature at the German for Foreigners Institute in Munich and at the University of Indiana. His chief vocation and talent was in music, which he studied from childhood, first as a pianist and then as a composer. For several years he studied composition with Herman Weiss. His piano teachers were, among others, David Bacon at the Longy School and Kathryn Rosenbach. He created numerous compositions – string quartets, piano sonatas, symphonies, concerti and other chamber music. Many of his solo and chamber works were performed publicly by himself, Ms. Rosenbach, and ensemble players.
He leaves his sisters, Janet Warren Rogers of Portsmouth RI and Constance Warren Mery of Pt. Reyes Station CA, his brother Richard Warren of Grafton VT, their spouses Arthur Rogers, Michael Mery and Sarah Moore Warren, and nieces and nephews George Buell, Lisa Piemont, Rebecca Buell, Samuel Buell, Thomas Warton, Philip Warton, Maria Bennett, Christopher Warton, Peter Warren, Rebecca Warren, and Samuel Warren, and seventeen great-nieces and great-nephews. He is also survived by his dedicated assistant, Tom Morse.
