Hugh P. MacDonald, 79, of Carver and Florida, passed away Friday February 4th in the VA hospital in West Roxbury after a period of failing health. He was the beloved husband of Marguerite T. (Collins) MacDonald.
He was born in Boston, grew up in Dorchester, son of the late Bernard and Ann (Wallace) MacDonald.
Hugh graduated from Dorchester High and played on the Dorchester Gales football team. He also was a graduate of Ohio State University.
He was a disabled United States army veteran of the Korean War. Hugh was a lifelong member of the VFW and the DAV of Carver.
Hugh worked for the federal government as a meat inspector for many years and then he worked for Doyle & Bailey for 20 years until he retired.
He was an avid Patriots Fan
He leaves behind his best friend and cherished wife of 32 years Marguerite, they enjoyed many wonderful years together. Hugh deeply loved his wife and would often tell his daughter, he was the luckiest man in the world to be loved by such an amazing woman.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Lisa Doran and her husband Robert of Whitman, his stepchildren; Maureen and Joseph Delcon of NC, James and Laurie Doyle of Quincy and John and Charles Doyle of FL., his sister Dotty Keller, Muriel Bailey of Brockton, Lois Cirino, Alice Tremblay and her husband Jack of FL., his beloved grand children Kailin and Sean Doran; also many wonderful nieces and nephews who loved “Uncle Hughie dearly. He was also the brother of the late Elenor Pyne
His services will be held on Thursday February 10th at 9:30AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman. Burial will be at a later date in the MA VA National Cemetery .His visitation will be on Wednesday February 9th from 5:00-8:00PM.Donations may be made to the N.E.
