Sandy Leon Brown, age 68, of Danville, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2011; he had been in declining health for approximately 5 years.
Born July 7, 1942 in Danville, Virginia, he was the son of the late James Wyatt Brown and Frances Scearce Brown. Mr. Brown attended Brosville School and he was also the owner and operator of Good Times Pool Co.
Survivors include his mother: Frances Scearce Brown Backham of Bachlor Hall Community; two daughters: Angela B. McCarty of Wake Forest, NC and Melanie B. Dowdy of Ringgold, VA; two sisters: Joan Akers of Roanoke, VA and Brenda Jones of Danville, VA; one brother: Wallace Brown of Danville, VA; as well as two grandchildren: Mica Durham and Erin Dowdy. Mr. Brown is predeceased by his father.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, February 8, from 7-9 p.m. at Swicegood Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at the Swicegood-Barker Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m.
