Ronnie W. Hamlett, age 62, of 5075 Walters Mill Road, Providence, NC, died on Saturday, February 5, 2011 in Alamance Regional Hospital, Burlington, NC. His death was the result of an automobile accident near his home.
Born January 25, 1949 in Danville, he was the son of the late Henry Lewis Hamlett and Bessie Lewis Hamlett. Mr. Hamlett was a veteran of the US Army, having served during the Vietnam conflict, and was owner/operator of Hamlett Construction Company. He was a member of the Elks Club, the American Legion Post 1097, the VFW, and the Poquoson Tribe of Redmen #345. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy Purnell Hamlett of the residence; one son: Tommy A. Chandler and his wife Tracey of Providence; four sisters: Ruby Painter of Danville, Ann Hooker of Spartanburg, SC, Christine Albert and her husband James of Providence, Phyllis Gibson and her husband Larry of Blanche, NC; three brothers: Richard Hamlett and his wife Lula of Ruffin, Barry Devon Hamlett and his wife Wanna of Providence, and Donnie Hamlett of Mebane. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three sisters, Elsie Mitchell, Estelle Hamlett, and Marie Hamlett, and by two brothers, Henry B. Hamlett and Vernell Hamlett.
Graveside funeral services officiated by Rev. James Albert will be held on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at 2 p.m. in the Hamlett Family Cemetery, 3060 Culver Road in Blanche, NC. Military honors will be presented by the American Legion Dan River Post 1097 Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at Swicegood Funeral Home on Monday, February 7, 2011 from 7 until 8:30 p.m. and at other times, they will be at the residence.
