José S. Raposo, age 75 of Fall River, passed away Saturday, February 5, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Eliana A. (Viveiros) Raposo, to whom he was married for 51 years, and son of the late Nicolau S. and Maria do Santo Cristo Raposo.
Born in Ponta Delgada, São Miguel, Azores, he immigrated with his beloved wife and sons to Fall River in 1967. He was a retired machine operator at Plymouth Rubber Company and a parishioner of St. Michael Church.
Besides his wife, José is survived by two sons and three grandsons: Luis M. Raposo, his wife Kathleen, and their sons Andrew and Kevin of Sharon, and Joseph C. Raposo, his wife Sylvia, and their son Joseph of Dedham; four siblings: Jesuina, Odete, and Alexandrina Raposo of Ponta Delgada, and Nicolau Raposo of Toronto; three brothers-in-law: Carlos and his wife Ines, John and his wife Maria Amelia, and Herbert and his wife Bernardete Viveiros, all of Fall River; and two sisters-in-law: Mary and her husband Jorge Correia of Fall River, and Maria Raposo of Somerset, widow of his late brother-in-law Joseph Raposo.
His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main Street, Fall River, on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael Church, 189 Essex Street, Fall River, at 10:30 a.m. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery.
